Time to Clean Out Your Expired Coupons!

in Monthly Coupon Donation Drive

If you have a number of expired coupons, don’t throw them away! Instead, gather them together for coupon donation and mail them to Coups for Troops. Coups for Troops donates the coupons to military families overseas…they can use them for up to 6 months after expiration date!

Here are the basic guidelines for your monthly mailer:

  • Coups for Troops can use insert, tearpad, hangtag, peelie, Catalina, or internet printed manufacturer coupons
  • The coupons you send should be no more than 60 days expired (for this month, expiration dates of 12/31/2011 and later)
  • Please clip the coupons you send – do NOT send unclipped whole or partial inserts or full or partial sheets of printables!!
  • Do NOT send store or restaurant coupons as they cannot be used by military families

When your coupons are ready to mail, attach appropriate postage and send to:

Coups For Troops
PO Box 147
Winnabow NC 28479

I’ll post another reminder to mail your coupons at the end of the week – if you have any questions, you can leave them in the comments!

I try to keep track of how much Winn Dixie on a Dime readers donate to Coups for Troops – so when you’re ready to send your envelope out to Coups for Troops, just fill out this form and it will allow me to estimate how many dollars we’re helping military families to save each month!

Thank you for posting this.

Recently, I started taking my expired coupons to the local American Legion. They send coupons to military families about once a month, or when they get a flat-rate box filled up. They also collect other items — like, plastic bottle caps/lids, canceled postage stamps, Box Tops & Labels for Education, toys… — for good causes (like training seeing-eye dogs, etc.). I thrilled to be able to do more (and save the postage!). (The coupons must be separated: “Food” and “Non-food”.)

A friend of mine, in another state, takes her expired coupons to a local church where they get sent off.

I know of a group of couponers who fill flat-rate boxes, too, and ship them off — and, then, split the cost of the flat-rate box.
